SHIGEKI SUGIYAMA

(WORK IN PROGRESS: Raw Video Footage, Minimal Editing)

Shigeki Sugiyama recalls some familiar locations of Alameda's Japantown of the 1920s-30s, personally witnessing President Gerald Ford's signing of the American Promise Proclamation in 1974, (thus officially ending Executive Order 9066, the original internment order), and why he now regards the internment camps as "sanctuaries" - for him, a gateway to America.
